Crafter Hoarders & Altered Pages Challenge Blog Hop

Today the Altered Pages team is joining with the Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge Team for one of their fabulously fun blog hops - #14 Button it Up!

Crafters of every type are button hoarders! Buttons are pretty, inexpensive, and extremely versatile. If you are a card maker, quilter, layout artist, or anything in between, you probably have a button hoard! Buttons come in many sizes, styles, shapes, and colors, plus they are easy to store...usually in cute containers! Pull out those bins of buttons and use some of them for your challenge project!  You can participate in the Craft Hoarders Challenge and win a prize from the blog sponsor... Altered Pages!

What better than to team with buttons then some Vintage Sewing Collage Images and I couldn't stop at just one project.  I made two canvases like the one below, by layering grunge paste onto the surface and then stamping (to leave an impression and add texture) as well as adding my buttons. Once dry I used inks to stamp over my impressions and add the background color before finishing with some Dew Drops.

Supplies Used
4 x 4 Canvas Board, PaperArtsy Grunge Paste, Various Buttons, Kept in Stitches Stamp Set by Altered Pages/Mailbox Muse, Vintage Sewing Collage Image, Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko Staz On Ink - , Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko Memento Ink - Peanut Brittle, Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko Memento Marker - Peanut Brittle, Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko Delicata Ink - Gold, Robin's Nest Dew Drops

I do hope you will join the fun, hop along and play along in the challenge too!  Be sure to leave a comment on each blog you visit.

2 for Tuesday Blog Hop

Hi I am back again with another Post, my second for today.  Altered Pages is teaming up with Pink Persimmon Stamps and hopping today.

Pink Persimmon

Pink Persimmon make and sell quality vintage inspired clear stamps......you can find out more by heading to their website http://www.pinkpersimmon.com/.

I was sent the Stamp Mermaid Pearls to use for my project today, it only arrived yesterday due to the tonne of Christmas Mail being sent it must have been delayed.  Anyhow it didn't leave me much time to put my thinking cap on so a card was in order, as was using the Vintage Style Papers from Glitz.  I had some left over scraps of my favorite floral paper from the Unchartered Waters Collection.  This scrap inspired my color choices and was used to make my background.

I handmade and stamped my background using Gesso, a Stencil, Spray Inks a Text Stamp and some torn strips of my paper scraps.  Adding my background to a black card base I then layered some black cardstock and a piece of yellow embossed Cardstock and to to this added on top my Tria Colored Stamped Mermaid Pearls Image which I had fussy cut around, removing any text. My chosen Sentiment 'Be Open to What Comes Next' was stamped within the sign board frame of the Mermaid Pearls Image and I added a flower to finish.

Home for the Holidays Blog Hop

Hi Everyone and Welcome to the Home for the Holidays Blog Hop with The Robin's Nest and Helmar Design Teams.  If you are hopping with us you should have arrived here from Lisa Wilkinson's Blog, and your next stop will be Kate Nolan-Denham.  If you are starting here, then simply make sure you stop at each of the blogs listed in the linky below to see a gorgeous array of projects perfect for the holidays.

One of my favorite things to do in preparation for Christmas is to add a few handmade pieces around my home, be it a wreath, or decoration for the Christmas Table or Tree.

So today I have a very cute little wreath to share with you, that can be hung on a wall or used to create a candle center piece for the Christmas table or elsewhere in your home.  It is made using a Wreath SVG Cutting File I found on Etsy from Pepito's Room.

Supplies:-
1 x 12 x 12 White Snow Glitter Cardstock from the Robin's Nest
1 x A4 Piece of Gold Metallic Paper from my Stash
14 x Gold Metallic Dew Drops from the Robin's Nest Mocha Trail Dew Drops Assortment
Sheer Gold Ribbon from my Stash
Pine Needles Distress Ink
Home Made Olive Green Glimmer Mist.
Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive
Helmar Gemstone Glue

I have layered the three cut pieces of the wreath cutting file together with the larger piece on top and stuck them together using the 450 Quick Dry Glue from Helmar.  I have then sprayed the entire wreath with home made Olive Glimmer Mist which resists the beautiful glittered pattern of the White Snow Glitter Cardstock and allows the Glittered Design to show through.  I have then also distressed parts of the wreath with some Pine Needles Distress Ink.

Once Dry I have added my bow tied from the Sheer Gold Ribbon and the Gold Metallic Dew Drops around the centre of the wreath to highlight the Gold Metallic Paper and Glitter from the White Snow Glitter Cardstock.  To adhere the Dew Drops I have used the Helmar Gemstone Glue which is perfect to use with the Robin's Nest Dew Drops as it dries clear.

To complete my center piece I am bringing in another traditional Christmas color by way of a Berry Scented Fragrant Candle so not only will this centre piece look good it will smell good too!

Robin's Nest and Helmar Items used today

White Snow glitter cardstock   DD-140 Mocha Trail

450 Quick Dry Adhesive 50ml   Gemstone Glue 50ml

My Heart Pieces - Blog Hop and Challenge #2

We had an overwhelming number of participants join in the fun of  the very First Challenge at My Heart Pieces  this past fortnight.  Who doesn't love an Anything Goes Challenge right?  The lucky winner will be announced shortly but today marks another first for My Heart Pieces and the DT.

We are having our very first blog hop.  If you are already hopping with us you would have found your way here from Cindy's Blog, but if you are starting on this very page, I would suggest that you be sure to make your way back to the start of our hop (see links below)  and continue through the list of names.

If you are not sure how a hop works, you just need to follow the links to each DT members blog, where you will find their latest creation for our next Challenge which is FLOWERS.

We want to see at least one handmade flower on your card and if you like you may wish to include an explanation of how you made it.

At each stop along the way you will find lots of wonderful inspiration and we ask that you leave some love on each of the blogs.  There will be a prize for one lucky person who leaves a comment on every blog.

My card today uses the My Heart Pieces Image called Summer, I have colored the image with my Tria Markers (very rough strokes and blending to give a more watercolor feel) and some ink which I have sponged on with my sponge daubers.  My handmade flower was made using my Scallop Circle and Smaller Circle Punches.

Thanks for stopping by, I do hope you will play along with our new Challenge, and for those of you hopping with us its time to visit Deanne here.

Flashback Friday - Black and White

Today whilst visiting and leaving comments for all my Unity FWF Friends I followed a link to where Jen from Jen's Cup of Creations is guest designer over at Flashback Fridays.  This is a challenge blog where each challenge is set and you are asked to find a creation you have done in the past (your first creation to be exact) that fits into the criteria.  How fun is that?

As guest designer Jen chose a Black and White Challenge and is asking us to join in the fun and revisit our very first Black and White Project with all the girls over at Friday Flashbacks.  On going back through my old posts I discovered that the above pictured card was my very first Black & White Card, which I created for one of the Tangled Up in Creativity Challenges in August of 2010, you will find the original post here, the criteria of this challenge was to create a CAS Card using either a single stamped sentiment or image.  I had just at the time purchased these tiny wedding ring embellishments, I used them for the first time on this card.

Do you know that I couldn't remember the last yet alone the first Black and White Creation I had made so it was fun having to search back through my old posts and I look forward to doing this again with the Flashback Friday girls soon.

One lucky  FFC blog hop participant will win this fabulous prize

Ooooops!  I almost forgot to mention - that as part of their 20th Challenge Celebrations some of the Past Guest Designers and Amy (FFC Blog Owner) are conducting a Flashback Friday Blog Hop with a fabulous prize (pictured above)  to we won by one lucky blog hop participant.  So be sure to check out all the details over at Flashback Fridays and see how you can join in the fun and be in the running to win.  Or better still join in the fun of the blog hop and the challenge and revisit your first Black and White Creation.
