Cards In Envy - Rev it Up

I'm back again for the second time today, as it's time to share the latest challenge over at Cards in Envy. This fortnight we want you to REV IT UP, and create a card showing anything that has an engine.  It may be a car, truck, plane, boat or anything in between.

My card uses a number of bright and colorful paper scraps that I had left over from other projects and thought the cute row of houses (Echo Park) would be a perfect backdrop for my Stampin' Up Image from the Loads of Love Stamp Set.

Wild About You!

Hi Everyone!  I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend.

Today I enjoyed some time out with the boys, doing some shopping and then we treated ourselves to a Baskin Robins Ice Cream.  I haven't had a BR Ice Cream since we moved from Brisbane over 12 years ago.   I tried their new flavor which was a mix of Half Blueberry, Half Raspberry flavored Ice cream. With Raspberry filled chocolate love hearts and a tart raspberry Ribbon called Berry Romantic. YUM!

Speaking of Romance,  I have had a few minutes here and there over the past few days to play. I haven't used a cute digi, in fact any digi for a while now, so I thought making a Valentine's Day Card was as good an excuse as any to do so.

I found this free Cheeky Monkey Image just perfect for Valentine's Day over on Dustin Pikes blog and couldn't resist it.

Magical Mondays - Snowman or Christmas Theme

Hi Everyone!  Sadly today this will be my last post and the last Challenge for Paper Cupcakes/TIMITA.  Nina has decided that it is time to move on to other art pursuits and close her shop and challenge site.  I have really cherished my friendship with Nina and loved her beautiful images, and working on the DT with all the other girls has been so much fun.  I wish her every success with her new artistic ventures and can't wait to see what she gets up to.

For the very last  Challenge Nina has a freebie for you all called 'Little Snow Friend' and the theme for our Challenge is to create a card/project with a Snowman or Christmas Theme.

The freebie image 'Little Snow Friend' is featured on my card above.  I have colored him in with my Tria Markers and then misted around the edges of my scallop circle with some Frosty Forest Green Starburst Mist from Lindy's Stamp Gang.  The card background consists of a strip of paper from the Echo Park Everyone Loves Christmas Digital Collection.  The other side of my background has been embossed with the Vintage Wall Paper Embossing Folder from Stampin' Up! and then misted with some Rudolph's Red Nose Starburst Spray also from Lindy's Stamp Gang.  To finish I added three Metallic Red Dew Drops.

PTT#95 Color Inspiration

Hi Everyone!  It's time for another Color Inspiration Challenge at Party Time Tuesdays.  This weeks colors are Kraft, Red and Chocolate.

I didn't have much in the way of suitable Designer Papers in these colors so I have used some cardstock with  a scrap of one designer paper and added some interest with a fancy ribbon and button.  The image is called Elf holding a Present from Sassy Studio Designs which I won some time ago.

Magical Mondays - Freebie and a Snowflake

Good Morning!  I hope everyone is doing well today!  I must say I am feeling a little tired.  I had a rather early morning yesterday (4am to be exact) and am feeling it today.  Its time for another Magical Monday with Paper Cupcakes and this fortnight sees Nina offering another fabulous freebie for the next 48hrs, so be sure to follow the link from the TIMITA Blog to grab it for yourself.

This adorable 'Snowman with a Tree' is the image the entire DT has used for their projects today and the theme of our challenge as chosen by Angie was simply to incorporate a snowflake into your creation.  This could be a die cut, punch or stamped snowflake to name a few ways to do so.  I do hope you will join us!

My Heart Pieces - Anything Cute

Hi Everyone!  It's time for another fun challenge at My Heart Pieces Challenges.  This fortnight we simply want to see Anything Cute!

With Christmas just around the corner I went with the cute image Listing Your Wishes and used some Stampin' Up! paper scraps from my ever growing pile of left overs.  Have you ever wondered which one of Santa's Lists you would have been on.  The Naughty or the Nice?  I was wondering which list this was he was going through as I made this card, hence my sentiment.  The candy cane and christmas bauble chipboard pieces which I have simply covered with some Kindy Glitz are from the Maya Road Christmas Tree Book Kit which I got from Altered Pages.

Sorry it's just a quick post today, but we have our carpets and tiles being cleaned tomorrow so I am in the middle of packing some things up so they are out of the way and had better get back to it.

My Heart Pieces - Use Ribbon

Hi Everyone!  I hope you have had a great week, mine has been a combination of scary, exciting, thought provoking and draining.  All of which is part of a process we are going through that could impact our future greatly.  But I can't let the cat out of the bag just yet so it's time for another fun challenge over at My Heart Pieces Challenges.  The theme this fortnight is to use Ribbon!  And as October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month I chose to work with one of Priyanka's newer images called Take Care.

This was perfect for our theme also as I had some wide pink ribbon crying out to be used.  So I have simply layered two strips of it behind my image and over my stripe background paper which is from The Robin's Nest.  The image is colored with Tria Markers and I have added a Dew Drop also from The Robin's Nest to each corner.

The Poodles Parlour - Anything Goes

Hi Everyone I hope you are all having a wonderful start to your weekend!  I was awoken early this morning by 100's of screeching cockatoo's.  They have been absent from around our home for months but with it being some time since we have had decent rain everything is dry so no doubt they are looking for food, and they found it at our house this morning, given we had only last night put some seed out for the lorikeets and king parrots which we feed.  So my early rise has seen me get some work done and I sat down here realising that I totally forgot to schedule my post for the latest Poodles Parlour - Anything Goes Challenge.

This week we are joined by Milk Coffee as are Sponsor and the design team was lucky enough to get to play with some of there gorgeous images.

My card uses the image Charlotte Paper Ship.

I have used a swirly background paper from K & Co to resemble waves and the reverse side was perfect for a Sunny Sky.  She looks so dreamy in her little paper ship that I thought a Thinking of You Sentiment would be a great match for this image.  Charlotte and her paper ship are colored with Tria Markers, and I have added a little Kindy Glitz along the waves.

31 Day Card Challenge Day 16 - 18

Hi everyone!  Thank you so much for all the lovely comments you have been leaving for me, they are such wonderful encouragement and very much appreciated.  I am back today with the latest three days worth of cards for the 31 Day Card Challenge.  I am pleased to say I have made it past the half way point and on the down hill run......however I do believe the challenges are getting somewhat harder.....lol.

This weeks saw us begin some Fancy Fold Challenges and upon uploading my photos to do my blog post I see that I was in some what of a monochromatic mood.

Day 16 - Create a Side Step Card.

I had a small collage of Santa (from Altered Pages) left on my desk so this was my starting point for this one and seeing Mary Kate's (hosting the 31 Day Card Challenge) card using glitter the other day I thought I would give her technique with the Double Sided Tape a try.

All the papers were bits in my scrap box and the Sentiment is from one of my favorite SU Sets - Many Merry Messages.  Of course it wouldn't be complete without a few Dew Drops (Christmas Collection) from the Robin's Nest.

Day 17 - Create a Gate Fold Card

For this one, I had a scrap of Concord Crush Polka Dot Paper left over from a project I made early in the week, so being it was my favorite color I couldn't resist using it.  

The stamps both image and sentiment are from the Ippity by Unity Set called Thankful for You.  

Day 18 - Create an Easel Card

This is one of my favorite fancy folds, I decided to go with a Masculine Theme for this one.  Using the Stampin' Up! Set Totally Tools.

More Paper Scraps (SU Choc Chip DSP)  were used for this one, and I have colored in the image with my Tria Markers.

31 Day Card Challenge Days 12 - 15

Hi Everyone!  I didn't get a chance to post my cards for the 31 Day Card Challenge over the weekend, as I got busy doing some other things with the family as well as making 80 basic 6 x 6 Album Pages to be donated to the Southern Cross Kids Camps via their Memory Page Drive on Facebook.

I am back today to share Days 12 - 15 of the 31 Day Card Challenge which are all using the cute images from the Digi Garden.

Day 12 - Use Material

I don't sew so didn't have anything on hand other than some felt, so I made the flower for this card, using my Sizzix Circle Dies and cutting the leaves by hand.  

The image is called Lil Ladybug and I have played along with the sketch challenge at Sweet Sketch Wednesday #175 (I have turned it to the side).

Day 13 - Not your usual method of coloring.

My normal method of coloring of late has been mostly my Tria Markers, so for this card I used my Water Color Pencils instead.

The image is called Patches the Scarecrow.

Day 14 - Use Glitter

I am not a fan of loose glitter, so have decorated this card with some Lilac Kindy Glitz.  I have swirled it around my background and used it for the icing on the cupcake.

Magical Monday - Orange and Purple

Hi Everyone!  Today it was my turn to choose the theme for this fortnight's Challenge over at Paper Cupcakes, There's Magic in the Air Challenge Blog.  With Halloween just around the corner Nina has a fabulously fun image (What Characters) and a few sentiments which you can download for free to play along and which the DT has featured.  So my choice of theme was easy and I made it simply to use the colors Orange and Purple on your card.

For my card I have combined these two colors on a elongated purple card base.  Using some orange corrugated Cardstock and some other bits from my scrap hoard.  The night sky and my sentiment background I have done using my new Gelatos and a Water Brush, whilst the characters, moon and the tree branch have all been colored with my Tria Markers.

My Heart Pieces - Monochromatic Challenge

A new challenge has started over at My Heart Pieces Digital Challenges.  This fortnight we want to see all your monochromatic card making skills.

31 Day Card Challenge - Days 9 - 11

Here are the cards I made for Days 9 - 11 of the 31 Day Card Challenge, and now that things have slowed down a little on my blog I will be able to go back to posting a card a day!

Day 9 - Technique Stamp Kissing

For this card I have used a flourish/scroll pattern stamped with a light pink chalk ink and then kissed it with my French Script Background from Stamping Up inked with Rich Razzleberry.  I have then simply layered this on complimentary tones of purples/pinks and added a touch of bling with some Robin's Nest Clear Dew Drops and some ribbon.


Day 10 - Technique - Create your Own Background using your favorite method.

One of my favorite methods, because of the ease and speed at which you can do this and each time get a random effect is to do a quick Water Color Wash with my SU Stampin' Write Markers on a Plastic Sleeve.

Simply scribble your desired colors all over the plastic spritz with water and press in your piece of cardstock.  Before this piece dried I brush a small amount of copper and gold Perfect Pearls across it also to add a bit of shimmer.  My cute little pig image is the latest freebie I received as I am playing along with the Progressive Challenge at CDAC (Crafters Digital Art Centre).  This is for Challenge #cdacpc21 and the image is from the Doodle Pantry.  Other than my card base all the paper/cardstock was from my scrap pile.  The corduroy brads which I have had in my stash for a couple of years are from the Eyelet Outlet.

Day 11 - Use Brads and/or Eyelets

I used both brads and eyelets for this one. I have a number of eyelets and brads in my stash but rarely use them so this was a good one for cleaning out some stash.  I have used the brads as the centres of my ribbon and paper flowers and the eyelets simply to hold my image to my card base.  My background has been colored with a turquoise colored Gelato Pen and then brushed over with it with my water brush.

PTT #89 - Anything But a Card

Tuesday means Party Time!  This week over at PTT we want to see you create anything but a card!

Using one of the the great 50's Vintage Stamps from Flonz Stamps and some papers and Dew Drops from the Robin's Nest, I decided to create a fun Sticky Note Pad Cover.

I stamped the image in Vintage Sepia and colored in including the background with my Tria Markers.

31 Day Card Challenge - Days 4 - 8

Hi Everyone!  Because of everything going on both here on my blog and elsewhere over the weekend I didn't post my cards for days 4 - 7  so as promised I am back now to share with you the cards I have made over the past few days playing along with the 31 Day Card Challenge.

Day 5 - Color Aqua

I only had one piece of Aqua paper in my stash so this is what I came up with playing along also with the latest Sketch Challenge at Sketches by Carly.

The Butterflies Stamp is from the Dream Big Itty Bitty Stamp by Unity.  I have stamped in Tempting Turquoise Ink and used a similar color in my Gelato Pens to ink/smooch around the edges.

Day 6 - Technique - Paper Piecing

For this Card I am also playing along with the latest Color Combination Challenge of Tangerine Tango and Old Olive from Dynamic Duos and the Sketchbook Saturday Sketch.

For this card I am using up some of my old Stampin' Up! Papers in the two required colors.  The Pear Stamp and Sentiment are both from one of my Unity Stamp Company KOTM's.  A polka dot flower and some gem stones to finish.

Day 7 - Technique - Embossing

For this Card I started with Sketch #69 from the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge and decided to have a bit more of a play with my new Gelatos.

I clear embossed my butterfly and colored over it with a selection of Gelatos.  These same Gelatos were then used to create the dry embossed watercolor look background which my cut out butterfly was mounted to.  I mounted this on my card following the sketch and adding some rhinestones and dew drops to finish.

I am also entering this card into the Stamp Man October Butterflies, Birds and Bees Challenge.

Day 8 - Technique - Spotlight

This is one technique I haven't tried before, I have seen it around, so it was fun to try this one.  I have used one of the ladies from the Darkroom Door Stamp Set Just My Style and colored the spotlight in with my Tria Markers.  I have used an Echo Park Paper and SU Cardstock and Ribbon.
