31 Day Card Challenge Day 16 - 18

Hi everyone!  Thank you so much for all the lovely comments you have been leaving for me, they are such wonderful encouragement and very much appreciated.  I am back today with the latest three days worth of cards for the 31 Day Card Challenge.  I am pleased to say I have made it past the half way point and on the down hill run......however I do believe the challenges are getting somewhat harder.....lol.

This weeks saw us begin some Fancy Fold Challenges and upon uploading my photos to do my blog post I see that I was in some what of a monochromatic mood.

Day 16 - Create a Side Step Card.

I had a small collage of Santa (from Altered Pages) left on my desk so this was my starting point for this one and seeing Mary Kate's (hosting the 31 Day Card Challenge) card using glitter the other day I thought I would give her technique with the Double Sided Tape a try.

All the papers were bits in my scrap box and the Sentiment is from one of my favorite SU Sets - Many Merry Messages.  Of course it wouldn't be complete without a few Dew Drops (Christmas Collection) from the Robin's Nest.

Day 17 - Create a Gate Fold Card

For this one, I had a scrap of Concord Crush Polka Dot Paper left over from a project I made early in the week, so being it was my favorite color I couldn't resist using it.  

The stamps both image and sentiment are from the Ippity by Unity Set called Thankful for You.  

Day 18 - Create an Easel Card

This is one of my favorite fancy folds, I decided to go with a Masculine Theme for this one.  Using the Stampin' Up! Set Totally Tools.

More Paper Scraps (SU Choc Chip DSP)  were used for this one, and I have colored in the image with my Tria Markers.

Cupcake Easel with Robin's Nest!

Hi Everyone!  As I have previously mentioned on some of my posts this month, September is a month full of birthday's for me.  This includes my own so you may say I have been in need of lots of birthday cards, hence my choice for my Robin's Nest post today.

A couple of months ago I brought my very first electronic cutting machine (Sizzix Eclips)  which has opened me up to the wonderful world of SVG Cutting Files which is what I have used today to create my card today.  The Cutting File is from Paperthreads Design. 

Cupcake Easel Card

The card base is cut from a piece of Pink Cardstock from my stash, whilst the layered pieces are cut from the Glitter Pink on Gold Daisies Paper from The Robin's Nest.  The glittered side making a wonderful icing and the striped reverse side I thought was perfect for emulating a cupcake wrapper.  I cut this by hand to suit as I decided not to go with the more dimensional folded wrapper which was part of this cutting file. 

The Easel Card folds fairly flat for postage!

I have assembled the card and cupcake, inking the edges of the pieces and then proceeded to embellish with a stamped sentiment from Unity Stamp Co, some paper roses, punched green leaves, and a little ribbon from my stash.  The finishing touch was lots of the Robin's Nest Dew Drops in shades of pink and clear.

I think fancy folds are always nice to celebrate a more special occasion don't you?

Platypus Creek Cute Kids Thanksgiving Release

Hi Everyone!

Another quick post as I am in the midst of moving my craft room, so it means a big clean up and getting rid of lots of unwanted stash so that I can fit all my craft gear and combine it back into the office.

Today sees the release of the Pilgrim Ella and Noah over at Platypus Creek Digitals.  They are perfect for your Autumn/Thanksgiving Card Making.

We don't celebrate Thanksgiving here in Australia but luckily I have an All Occassions Paper Pack, I brought some years back which had some lovely papers just perfect for making this Easel Card.

Pilgrim Noah has been colored with my Tria Markers and I have used a couple of Dew Drops from the Robin's Nest.

PTT#85 Multi-fold Cards

Hi Everyone!  It's Party Time and this week we want to see cards with more than one fold!

For mine today I have created a Centre Step Card using the wonderful papers and die cuts from the Time for Spring Collection which were kindly provided by Fancy Pants Designs and the sweet image from The Crafty Pad - Ted with Apple.  Both of these companies are sponsors this week.

My card today uses the delightful image Ankhi from My Heart Pieces and elements from the SVG Cutting File for the Sweet Cupcake Card from the Breezy Backyard Lever Cards Collection.  

I have colored Ankhi in with my Twinkling H20's  added three small purple rhinestone to the flowers draped across her front.  My card has been cut from various pieces of my favorite retired Stampin' Up! Designer Papers.  To the frame around the card front I have added three flowers which I have cut using my Spellbinders Carnation Die and Clear and Purple Dew Drops from the Robin's Nest.

Booties, Babies and More Blue

Firstly a big hello to all my new followers.  This time last week I had about 3 followers to go until I reached 50 and now I am at 3 to go before I reach 100.  Thank you to everyone also for the lovely comments you leave me, they really do inspire me to continue doing what I do and can I just say I am really loving visiting all your blogs too.  There really is so many beautiful creations to admire and wonderful inspiration at every blog I visit.

My title today pretty much gives it away on me.  Yes that's right, more cards for Baby.......and using the color Blue.

My first card uses the baby booties stamp from the Dark Room Door Set called Baby Vol 1.  I have simply stamped two images in reverse directions on to my cardstock and then another one separately which I have cut out and popped up in a different direction over the other two.  I have colored and defined with my Tria Markers and sponged some brown and blue ink around the booties also. To finish I added two blue bows to the centre pair of booties.

I was asked to create another Christening Card for a boy, so this time I did an Easel Card using Blue and Kraft and a Free Vintage Digital Stamp Image I found on the net here.  I colored the image with my Tria Markers and then layered the image on a kraft,  then patterned paper, then two pieces of blue cardstock before attaching to the card base.  The Sentiment I simply printed on my PC.  Vintage Lace, Pearls and Flowers to finish.

A 60th Birthday and a Christening Card

Firstly I want to say a big hello and thank you to all my new followers.  I joined a new networking/bloggers group this week and the response and friendliness of all the ladies has blown me away along with the wonderful creations and inspiration that I have found on all their blogs too.

I had another special order this week to create which was a 60th Birthday Card for the customers sister and a Christening Card for her grandson.  Here is what I ended up with.

The number sixty is from the Milestone Shaped Number Cards Cutting File Set from The Cutting Cafe.  I printed this and cut it out by hand,.  The papers/cardstock and stamps except for the Purple Polka Dot Paper are all Stampin' Up.  I made this into an Easel Card.

The Circular Sentiment Stamp is from Unity Stamps.  Once again my photo isn't the clearest.  It was taken at the same time as the card from yesterdays post, plus my camera never likes to show purples True to color.  For those of you familar with Stampin' Up Colors the Purples are Elegant Egg Plant, Orchid Opulence and Rich Razzleberry.

For the Christening Card I was going for a more CAS Style and Elegant look.  I used some Bazzill White embossed cardstock base with a touch of Blue.  I had a big blue satin ribbon in my stash so put this to use along with the blue bow and the butterfly bling.  The die cut frame housing the word Christening is from Spellbinders I simply cut off the bottom decorative edge.  I simply layered some blue punched ovals and circles behind this to add further color.

A Month of Anniversaries

May is a fabulous time of the year for weddings its seems with numerous anniversaries being celebrated this month.  My parents celebrated 51 years on the weekend, whilst one of my closest friends anniversaries was yesterday and it is Rod's parents Anniversary on Saturday.  A couple of other people I know also have celebrated in the past few days, so it is fitting that today I share a Anniversary Card I made which was a special order from one of my customers for a 60th Wedding Anniversary.  My design brief was simply that the female recipient liked flowers and birds.

For my special orders I try to use a fancy fold or make it extra special, so I decided to make a Tri Shutter Fold Card using papers from The Scarlet's Letter Collection Pack by Basic Grey (Retired).  I have had these sitting in my paper stand for some time, a good couple of years.  Put it this way the release of these papers was 2007.  It is one of those collections I love so much I don't really want to use them, but thought it would be the perfect range to make this type of card with a bird and flower theme.

Another item I haven't used in a while (over 12 mths) is the Sizzix Sizzilit Leaves Die, the leaves of which I have layered underneath my Crafty Individuals Stamped Image.  I have to apologize for the grainy appearance of my photos, it wasn't until doing this post I realized how bad they are, and as I have already delivered the card to my customer I cannot take any new ones.  I am really pleased with how this turned out, its been a while since I have made this type of fancy fold card and I am happy to report my customer loved it too.

Platypus Creek Challenge 4 & Design Team Announced

Hi Everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful Easter. Today I am back with the exciting news I told you about.  And that is that I made the Design Team for Platypus Creek Digitals and I am really excited to be able to promote a Australian Digital Stamp and Cutting File Business and so looking forward to working with and getting to know Tracey and all the other wonderful DT Members.  You will find a list of the girls on my sidebar as well as on the Platypus Creek Digitals Site, and I am sure you will love visiting their blogs and seeing their work.

I made a card using my favorite Fancy Fold which is an Easel Card, using the delightful image called Flower Patch.  I printed the image three times on white cardstock, which I have layered and spotlighted after coloring with my Tria Markers.  The wording framing the outside of the image reads 'If Flowers were Friends I'd Pick You'.  I love this sentiment, don't you?

Flashback Friday's Challenge 21

You might remember last month I discovered a wonderful challenge blog that showcased your first card using particular elements/techniques.  Well I thought this concept was kind of cool, so I decided to play along again with their latest challenge.  The site is called Flashback Fridays.

Each Challenge they have a Guest Designer who sets picks the Challenge.  This time the Guest Designer is is Jen W and you can visit her blog Jenerally Speaking here.  Jen has chosen for us all to revisit our first Paper Pieced Card.

I have to say I didn't have to think to hard on this one as I can remember it well.  It was for a Challenge over at Party Time Tuesdays last year which was to make a St Patricks Day Easel Card following their monthly card sketch as well.  So it's quite fitting that this fits the challenge criteria over at Flashback Fridays given St Patricks Day is just around the corner.  You will find the original post here.

A Surprise Pop Up Card

The wet weather here today has freed up my day a little, as the tradesman due to come to the other house have cancelled so I thought I would share this card with you.  Earlier this week I saw for the second time my blogging friend Nina (Paper Cupcakes) had made a Surprise Pop Up Card, so I thought I would give this type of card a go and make that Birthday Card for Hubby, who is another year older tomorrow.  I keep telling him that 45 means he is now offically old........lol so I couldn't resist using this image from Stitchy Bear Stamps  called Birthday Boy.

I think I need to get a better cutter to use if I am going to be making lots of these types of cards, and lots of practice too, but it was fun to make and great to be able to make something a bit different to your everyday card.

The idea of this card is that you pull out the tag to reveal a surprise sentiment or two with the added surprise that your image than pops up.  Fabulously Fun and perfect for a Birthday Card don't you think?

Chinese/Thai and Chocolate Mud Cake is on the menu for Dinner as we are having Rod's parents around to celebrate Rod's Birthday tonight, I just have to remember to pick up the cake.

I am now off to think about packing.  Every year around my hubby's birthday we like to head away for a few days.  This year we are heading to Coffs Harbour where we have been going the past few years.  We have accommodation booked for the week, so we are actually taking and leaving my mum and dad down there for a few days on their own, and Rod and I will get a holiday at home for a few days as well.  Which is something we haven't had since we moved here so that will be nice, and we are having a few friends around on Saturday Night for a BBQ too.

80th Birthday Cameo Centre Step Card

One of the girls my hubby works with is a regular customer of mine and recently I was paid the nicest compliment about a card I made when she told me the recipient of the 18th Birthday Card loved it so much she framed it, and of course I never managed to take a picture of it.

For my special orders I always like to use what I class as a Fancy Fold Card and as I really loved making the Centre Step Card for the Party Time Tuesdays Challenge this week, when I was asked to make a card for a 80th Birthday this week I just had to make this type of card again.  As they say practice makes perfect!

I also had tumbling around the idea to use this particular Unity KOTM Stamp in blue like the cameo I stumbled across in my recent trip to the Antique and Craft Stores of Ulmarra.  The rest just fell into place.
