Platypus Creek Digitals - #16 Pearls and Lace

Good Morning!  I'm back with yet another post - making four in less than 24hrs.  But sometimes that happens with Design Team Schedules I guess.  My poor blog doesn't know what has hit it.

This morning sees a new challenge at Platypus Creek Digitals and the theme is Pearls and Lace.

I have created my card using the beautiful poinsettia image from Platypus Creek Digitals.  I have repeated the image across my background and printed onto glossy card.  Taking a white crayon I have traced around some of the outlines of the image to create a resist.  I then sponged red and green ink across the design and once complete rubbed off the crayon with a dry cloth.  I simply then added some pearls to the center of the flowers and layered my Peace Love and Joy sentiment over some lace and mounted onto a dark green base card.

I love how effective this crayon resist technique can be.

Sadly this is my last post as a member of the Platypus Creek Design Team but after much thought I have decided not to sign on for another term.   I wish Tracey and the Team all the best for the future!

Platypus Creek Cute Kids Thanksgiving Release

Hi Everyone!

Another quick post as I am in the midst of moving my craft room, so it means a big clean up and getting rid of lots of unwanted stash so that I can fit all my craft gear and combine it back into the office.

Today sees the release of the Pilgrim Ella and Noah over at Platypus Creek Digitals.  They are perfect for your Autumn/Thanksgiving Card Making.

We don't celebrate Thanksgiving here in Australia but luckily I have an All Occassions Paper Pack, I brought some years back which had some lovely papers just perfect for making this Easel Card.

Pilgrim Noah has been colored with my Tria Markers and I have used a couple of Dew Drops from the Robin's Nest.

Platypus Creek Digitals - #15 Lets Celebrate Birthday

Happy Monday everyone!

You may have remembered in yesterdays post I was using the gorgeous Damask Paper from the Robin's Nest on a Scrap Layout and I said that I would be back today to share a card I made using the leftovers.

Well here it is!  My card is for this fortnight's new Challenge over at Platypus Creek Digitals which is #15 - Lets Celebrate Birthday!  This challenge couldn't have come at a better time for me as September is Birthday Month for most of my family and quite a few of my friends as well as my own birthday!

So once again I have teamed this paper with red. I love Red, White and Black Together!  The Birdcage on a Branch Digi is from Platypus Creek Digitals, I have simply printed and cut this out with my spellbinder circle die, layered over the Black and White Damask Paper from the Robin's Nest and framed it with a SVG Cutting File Frame Element.  The two birds and flowers are punched and I have randomly placed some Red Dew Drops also from the Robin's Nest around the Frame.  The Birthday Wishes Sentiment is from The Unity Stamp Co.

Platypus Creek Digitals - Gingerbread Set Release

Good Morning Everyone!  Its another beautiful spring day here this morning, a great day to get some washing done which I will be doing shortly,  but first just a quick post announcing a new release over at Platypus Creek Digitals!

Today's release is a terrifically sweet set of Gingerbread inspired Digi's.

I have simply used the gingerbread man digi repeated across the front of the card with Christmas Colored Rhinestones between each one and the sweet surprises sentiment in the top right hand corner!

Yesterday on our return from visiting the cemetery for Father's Day, I found Felix not able to decide whether he preferred to be sleeping in his bed or on the floor, so both was the best option as far as he was concerned.   Luckily for him the side walls of his bed easily flattened under his body weight.  He does seem to always be hanging out of or over things.

He wasn't impressed with me taking his photos (as the flash kept going off because of the light taking this photo under our bed) and I was disturbing his beauty sleep so he soon re-positioned himself correctly in his bed which was my signal to leave him alone.....lol.  

I thought I'd share a picture of him in this position as I couldn't help but smile as he opened his eyes and looked up at me and I hope it brings a smile to your face today also.  Something else that may just bring a smile to my face today is finding some time to create.  I hope you can too!  

Platypus Creek Digitals - Challenge #14 Lets Get Spooky!

Hi Everyone! Following last weeks release of Vampire Noah and his friends it makes perfect sense for the new challenge at Platypus Creek Digitals this week to be a Spooky One.

For my card today I am using the Digi Image called Legs! and have kept my card to the dark colors of the night when all witches come out to play.

The spiders web and bats are all elements I have cut from the some of the wonderful Halloween Cutting Files you will also find at Platypus Creek!

So if you have a card that will scare our pants off, or simply just for Halloween Fun we loved to see it!

Cute Kids Halloween Release Day 2

Hi Everyone!  I'm back this morning with my card for Day 2 of the Cute Kids Halloween Release over at Platypus Creek Digitals.

I "Heart" Dad - New Cute Kids Release at Platypus Creek Digitals

Platypus Creek Digitals - Challenge #12 Traditional Christmas

Hi Everyone, I am back again today sharing a new release image from Platypus Creek being released today along with the start of our next challenge which is Traditional Christmas.  We want to see all your Christmas Creations using Red Green and Gold.

For my card I am using the new Poinsettia Image.  I just love poinsettia particularly for Christmas.

I have water colored the image using my Stampin Up Inks and Aqua Pen and added some Viva Decor Gold Glitter Liner to the centre.  I even went around the outside with green ink and then cut it out.  My background paper is from Basic Grey and the music score is two strips of Tim Holtz Tissue Tape.  The Cardstock, Sentiment Stamp and Ribbon are all from Stampin' Up!.

Sadly two of our lovely DT members have had to stand down in the past few weeks so Tracey has also put a DT Call out!  She is looking for two new members to join us at Platypus Creek Digitals.  So if you are interested in joining the DT, joining the challenge or just looking for some further Christmas Inspiration this week, head over to the Platypus Creek Digitals Blog.

Platypus Creek - Cute Kids Christmas Release Day 2

Hi everyone!  If you are reading this post its means I have scheduled it correctly.  As about now we are probably asleep or somewhere in Lismore browsing the shops (depends on whether sleep wins out) and waiting to hear when we can pick up my MIL following her op this morning (minor day surgery procedure).  Because she is a diabetic Hubby and I had to have her there at 6.30am after being up at 3.00am to sit with her whilst she finishes drinking the concoction she has to take prior to the procedure, hence why sleep may just win the day.

Today is Day 2 of the Cute Kids Christmas Release at Platypus Creek and for my card I am using the image 'Elf Noah'.  The sentiment is also a Platypus Creek File.  It's one of the digi stamps from the Christmas Round Set. Both Papers and the cardstock are from Stampin' Up! and the star brad and stockings are from my stash.

Platypus Creek - Cute Kids Christmas Release Day 1

Hi everyone!  I hope you are all doing well!  Can I just say a BIG THANK YOU to everyone for the lovely comments you are leaving me here on my blog they really do brighten my day and I am trying my best to get around to you all also.  Yesterday and today I have hubby home sick with some bug and as always he seems to be so sharing when it comes to his germs.  Hopefully though I can ward them off as we have to take Rod's mum to hospital for an operation tomorrow and because she has to be up at 3.00am and be at the hospital by 6.30am in the morning we are going to be staying with her tonight.

Today's card is for the new release of images over at Platypus Creek Digitals.  This release is for the Cute Kids Christmas Images which sees Candy Cane Oliver and Christmas Josie being released today and two more images plus a giveaway for you all tomorrow.

For my card today I have used Candy Cane Oliver.  I have colored him in with my Tria Markers adding a bow to the candy cane he is holding.

The backing papers are from a ATD Seasons Paper Pad which contains 180 sheets with 84 different designs celebrating every occasion throughout the year which I purchased about a year ago and the cardstock is from Stampin' Up!

Platypus Creek Challenge 11 - Things with Wings

Hello, Hello, Hello everyone! it seems like ages since I've posted!.  Well it has almost been a week!  To be honest with you, I've been a bit flat when it has come to my creating and desire to be in my craft room, and then over the weekend we had a house guest.  So it was just lovely to take a bit of time out and spend with family and friends.  I am still feeling a bit flat in general this morning (it might be the weather), for the first time in ages I went back to bed after taking Rod to work.  I am about to go and make a cup of coffee and see if that wakes me up.

Anyway today I have a card to share with colors I am sure would wake you up!   I have made it for the latest challenge over at Platypus Creek Digitals.  The theme this week is Things with Wings, so I have used the delightful Blue Jay Digi from the store as it reminded me of all the wonderful little wrens, fantails and willy wag tails we have in our garden here at home.

For my card I am using up some paper scraps.  I had a left over piece from another project where I had cut out a scalloped oval which fitted my card front perfectly (needed a bit of a trim) and the bright colored piece has been in my scrap pile for some time now so I simply layered this behind the oval cut out.  The sentiment is a American Crafts Rub On.

I do hope you will join in the fun of our challenge this week, just think, birds, butterflies, fairies, dragons, bugs, there truly are lots of things with wings and it can be used as your image, or embellishment on your project.

Platypus Creek Challenge #10 Buttons and Bows

Good Morning I hope you have all had a wonderful weekend.  I did the weather was fabulous here which was perfect for catching up on all the washing and spending time in the garden.  We've been moving and placing some new plants from pots into bare spots in some of our already established gardens, plus planning on where some new gardens can go, its always so nice to connect with the earth and get outdoors.

Today is the start of a new challenge at Platypus Creek.  This week we want to see lots of buttons (3 or more) and bows on your cards.

For my card I chose to work with the Digi Image called Daisy.  I played in Photoshop to create my background and my main image piece, which I have colored with my Tria Markers and then some sponged color around it.  I placed my ribbon on the background piece keeping the left side white whilst sponging color over the right side so that the white space matched the white space framing my main image.  I have used one button as the flower center and four smaller buttons in the corners of the white frame and added a bow to my ribbon.  For the smaller, full daisies in the background I have used some Viva Decor Pearl Pens for the flower center.

Platypus Creek Digitals - Wonderland Release

Hi Everyone!  This is just a quick post today to share with you that yesterday and today saw the release of the Wonderland Images and Cutting Files at Platypus Creek Digitals, where you will find Alice, the Mad Hatter and Friends.  If you love Alice in Wonderland and Cute I am sure you will love these!

For my release project I chose to work with the Queen of Hearts.

The background paper is a very old Fiskars/Heidi Grace one that has been in my stash forever.  The Circle was cut with my spellbinders die, and then layered with 3 stripes of pink ribbon in between which are some embossed strips featuring Card Suits.  The To My Heart Ticket is from one of my Unity KOTM's and the flowers and heart brad are also from my stash.

Platypus Creek Digitals Challenge #9 - Black & White + 1

Good Morning and Happy Monday to everyone!  It's time for another wonderful Challenge over at Platypus Creek Digital's.  Today kick starts our Black and White plus 1 other color challenge.

For me black and white are always so elegant together and I think every color teamed with them looks fabulous, but my favorites would have to be red, pink, yellow and orange.  For my card today I have chosen Red.

This sweet fairy is the Digi image 'Just Maddison' from Platypus Creek, I have used my Tria Skin Tone colored markers and some crystallina kindy glitz to color her in adding a touch of red for the roses on her waist and shoes.  The papers I have used are from the Bo Bunny Enchanted Collection, and everything else is from my random stash including the cute black heart shaped buttons.

Platypus Creek Digitals New Release - Butterflies

Today Platypus Creek Digitals are releasing two new Butterfly Digital Images and a Cutting File.

I have a couple of projects to share with you today using these files.

For my first one I have created a Photo Pouch Card, so that if you wanted to send a Hello and enclose some photos of the family etc they can be held nice and secure in this card.

The sentiment is on a circular flap which is held down by the beautiful Birdwing Butterfly.

Upon opening the flap the Ulysses Butterfly is revealed.

And at the top of the card we have created a pocket so that you can include a note or photos etc and know they want fall out the side of the card.

For my second card I have used the Solid Butterfly Shape Cutting File of the Birdwing Butterfly with out antennae.  

I have hand cut this shape from the centre of my card front using the cutting file pattern and layered my text paper behind it.  I have defined the shape by a quick faux stitch outline with my trusty black Zig Pen.  I have also done some messy faux stitching around the edges.  The colorful dots on my card front were created by sponging different colored ink over some Punchinella.  

For both of my projects the background papers have been from the Christy Tomlinson She Art Paper Pack.

Platypus Creek Digitals Challenge #8 - For the Boys!

Did you enjoy the wonderful color inspiration of our Challenge last week?  This week at Platypus Creek Digitals we want to see your creations - For the Boys.

For my card I have used the wonderful Digi Set called 'Out of this World'.

I have arranged the Moon, Star and Planet images in Photo Shop and printed on gloss card, added a couple of lines with my Black Pen, colored the Moon, Star and Planet with my Tria Markers added some glitter and then used a crayon resist and sponging technique with blue and green ink to create my out of space skyline.   The sentiment and little green alien I printed separately and layered onto the finished card.  I thought this would make a fabulously fun Birthday Card for a Boy.

Today also sees the Release of the New Image - Grid Iron Oliver and Tracey also has a freebie for you.

SWAT June Sketch

We have another fabulous sketch to inspire you this month.  Sadly this is the last sketch you will see from Janice as she finishes up her term with Sketches with a Twist we wish her all the best for her future endeavors.  This means S.W.A.T. is on the hunt for a New Sketch Designer, could it be you?  For all the details head here.

Janice's sketch this month is focusing on a popular scrapping trend while the twist this month is to incorporate fabric into your design.

Here's my card.

The Geisha is the Sakura Image from Platypus Creek Digitals.  I have covered her kimino in with some red and yellow polyester fabric which I had some old swatches from.  I also used a red swatch layered behind my sentiment which I punched out with my square punch.  The sentiment and the flower on the geisha's dress is a rub on from American Crafts.  The Felt Flowers are From Stamping Up and the Background Papers are from Echo Park.  To create the background design to match the sketch, I punched out circles from two of my patterned papers and laid them in a grid pattern I then simply took a ruler and drew the lines connecting the circles.  If you wanted to these lines could have been sewn.  But every one knows I so don't sew!

This week sees the start of another great challenge over at Platypus Creek Digitals which is a Color Inspiration Challenge.

We want to see you create a card combining the three colors pictured above which I will call dark teal, purple and olive green.

Here's is my card using the closest thing I had to these colours and the delightful Sakura Image from Platypus Creek.  I punched various Sakura Flowers to match those on her dress, and used one of my Oriental Themed Embossing Folders and a little Bling.
