Cards in Envy - A Manly Challenge

Yesterday we celebrated Father's Day here in Australia, so the latest challenge which starts today over at Cards in Envy had perfect timing.  The Theme is A Manly Challenge.

Back in June when I visited Melbourne to catch up with some of my online crafty friends we visited some of the local scrapbooking stores and one of the many items I purchased was this ever so cute Tool Charms Die from Die Namics.   This challenge gave me an excuse to use it.

All the men in my life love their tools, my dad started his working life as an apprentice carpenter and has a passion for wood work, whilst my husband likes to tinker and did a lot of the renovations to our old house himself.  So it was actually their tool shed I took some inspiration from for my card today.

I used the de-bossed side of my Swiss Dots embossing folder to resemble a peg board and incorporated two types of tape I found at the hardware store to create my card.  The mesh tape is for joining plaster sheets and for my actual tools I have used an Adhesive Aluminium Tape that is used for roofing.

Thanks for stopping by today!  Be sure to check out my Birthday Blog Candy Giveaway if you haven't already and for more fabulous manly inspiration check out the rest of the Design Teams Cards over at Cards In Envy.

PTT #72 All Things Mechanical For Fathers Day

This is my second post today!  For Paper Cupcakes Magical Monday's Challenge please scroll down!

Did you know that today is National Machine Day!  It's a day when all things mechanical are celebrated so we thought given our Party Time Tuesdays Challenge goes live on this very day we would get you to use all things mechanical to create a special card for Fathers Day which celebrated this month in the USA.

So whether its an image or embellishment of a car, a steam train, a washing machine, cogs, nuts and bolts if it fits the category to do with machinery we want to see it!

For my card I got to play with the image 'AJ the Race Car Driver' from The Stamping Boutique and what did I tell you in my last post.  Red, Black and White seem to be my favored colors this week.

I have used my Tria Markers to color and have popped up the flags and used glossy accents on the wheels and my Viva Decor Sunny Yellow Pearl Pen on the head lights of the car for dimension.

We have a wonderful host of sponsors this week which include:-

For more on our sponsors, wonderful inspiration for all the DT or to play along head over to the PTT Blog.

Dad - A Manly Card Challenge

I've been on a bit of a mission of sorts this week and have been making lots of cards.  After yesterdays post which I said would be my last one until I am back from Brisbane on Friday, I found another Unity Challenge Blog - All Things Unity so Idecided to join in the fun for their latest challenge, ATU33 - Get Manly so I just had to share my card with you all.

The challenge is to create a male card for your Dad, Hubby, or other male in your life using your Unity or Ippity Stamps.

Last week I got the Ippity Set - Authentic Man so I put another fabulous stamp (the row of ties) from this set to use to create this card along with the gingham ribbon border and simple sentiment DAD from the Unity April Kit of the Month. I love the clean look and bright colours of this one.

Father's Dad is coming up in the States soon, so there are a couple of male/father's day oriented challenges I have also entered this card for: - Stamp, Scrap & Doodle Saturday and Stamptacular Sunday, who's challenges I have played along with a few times now, as well as making this my second entry into the Cards for Men Blue and Black Challenge.

Happy Fathers Day

Happy Fathers Day!  Today we having my mother and father in law for lunch to celebrate Fathers Day!  We were planning a BBQ as the weather has well and truly warmed up since arrival of Spring, however today it doesn't know what it wants to do, one minute the sun is shining and then the clouds come across and it becomes dark and dreary, so we may well have to cook on the BBQ but eat inside.

My mother and father live in Brisbane which is about three hours away, so unfortunately we will not be spending the day with them aswell, however in a couple of weeks Rod and I will be on holidays so we plan to visit them and spend my father's 75th Birthday with him.

I wanted to share with you today this cute Waistcoat Card I cased, which I have made heaps of recently.  This was a design so kindly shared by Lynn Couper who is from New Zealand, you can download the template/tutorial by visiting Lynn's Blog.  I have turned this one into a Father's Day Card for my father in law.

I hope you all enjoy Father's Day and get to share it with someone close to you.

And the Winner Is!

Also today I wanted to congratulate Jenn on winning my TUC - Something Blue, card challenge with her entry.  It was a such a hard choice for anyone voting as we had five great entries, all so very different.

Thank you everyone who entered the challenge and to everyone who voted, it was much appreciated.

Tangled Up In Creativity Card Challenge - Something Blue

I am a day early with this post, however this week I am playing host for the Tangled Up in Creativity Card Challenge.

I can't believe where the time has gone, we are almost in September.  I have been kept quite busy of late preparing for our stand at the Alstonville Craft Fair this weekend and also making up 100 goodies bags for a fundraiser I am hosting for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.  I will post more about this fundraiser in another post.
In Australia September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month as well as Fathers Day falling on the first Sunday, so with this in mind, my challenge is:

1.  Create a card using the colour 'Pacific Point' blue by Stampin' Up! or as similar a colour you have.
2.  Make it suitable for a male recipient
3.  Incorporate ribbon or the look of ribbon into your design.

This is the card I came up with this morning for this challenge.

Entries for this challenge will be accepted from August 24 - 30 with voting for TUC Group Members open from August 31 - September 2.  The winner will be announced on September 3.

Only entries from members of the Tangled Up In Creativity Blog Group will inclued in the poll to be voted for, and the person with the most votes will win a great prize.  However because we would love to see lots of entries from everyone, for the non TUC Members I will have a random draw for any entrants and you will also have a chance of winning some great goodies I have put aside.
