My first Unity Kit of the Month Sketch Challenge

I am sure I have let you all know before that my favorite stamps are red rubber because of their quality and they are so versatile, and you may remember early in the month I mentioned that I had recently joined the Unity Kit of the Month Club.  I was really pleased with the stamps I received in my April Kit and last week I received my May Kit, so I just have to tell you all again they truly are great value for money. 

Even more exciting is that I just found out that every Month over at the Unity Stamp Blog they have a Kit of the Month Sketch Challenge with some terrific prizes up for grabs, so I thought this was the perfect opportunity to break the stamps from both my April and May Kits out and play.

Here is one of the cards I created following the Sketch of the Month.

Paper: Basic Grey Curio, Cardstock Stampin' Up!

Stamps:  Unity May KOTM, Stampin' Up! Tiny Tags

Ink:  Versafine Black, SU Markers, Distress Inks Aged Mahogany and Tattered Rose

 Other: Trims - Stampin' Up!,  SU Eyelet Border , Jewellery Tag and Heart Punch, 

Clear Embossing Powder, Crystallina Kindy Glitz, Tim Holtz Tissue Tape - Musical Notes,

Kaisercraft Pale Green Rhinestones.

The May KOTM bird image used here reminded me of a beautiful cameo brooch so I just knew it was a Vintage Card about to be created.   I really enjoyed creating this card because time was my friend which enabled me to use a couple of different techniques - embossing, watercolouring and distressing to add dimension and colour. I used parts of a second stamp from the kit which contains musical notes and the sentiment - My Heart Sings, to create the background on the bottom half of the card, the eyelet punched strip and the Heart Shaped Sentiment.   I was really happy with how this turned out, cos Vintage is so not me.
