Plight of the Butterfly

Today's card I am dedicating to two friends who are currently dreaming big and getting behind causes that have a connection to butterflies.

Stamps:  Unity April Kit of the Month and Dream Big Itty Bitty
Ink:  Versafine and VersaMagic Chalk Inks
Cardstock/Papers:  Stampin' Up, Other:  SU Ribbon and Green Rhinestones.

My good friend Julie at Time to Create my LSS also owns a Nursery called Idyll Hours with her wonderful husband Les at Modanville.  This small township in the Northern Rivers of NSW is known as home to the very big and very beautiful Richmond Birdwing Butterfly.  For many years Julie has spent tireless hours trying to raise awareness of this beautiful creature which is now at great risk of becoming extinct.  This butterfly has only one food source which is commonly known as the butterfly vine, which Julie sells via their nursery.  I would encourage you to visit her blog to read more about this endangered beauty and how you can help save this species.  One way you could help Julie and show your support today is by liking the Idyll Hours Nursery page on facebook.

My second friend who I am also dedicating today's card to is Shazz Pratten.   Shazz is the owner of the ScrapLounge Forum that I am on the Creative Team for and also coordinates Heart Cards.

Heart Cards is currently raising awareness and collecting blank/thank you cards for a wonderful charity known as Harrisson's Little Wings Charity.  Harrison’s Little Wing Charity is a not-for-profit charity that was created in memory of  Harrison a little boy who lived for only 28 hours due to an incurable condition called ‘Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia.’  Harrison's parents started the charity who's aim it is to support those families that have a high-risk pregnancy and join them on their journey from diagnosis, to the baby’s delivery and beyond giving these families support whether as a bereaved parent or the parent of a child with a medical condition.

You can read more about the remarkable Harrison's Little Wings Charity and the current Heart Cards Campaign by visiting the Heart Cards Blog....... and see why the butterfly has a significance to this cause.

I have also chosen to enter this card in the following challenges:

All Things Unity - Challenge #34 Lets Fly Away - Butterflies
Paper Sundaes - Challenge #75 Sundae Bar - Purple, Gems, Wings and Paper Piercing.

Be sure to pop back tommorrow for a sneak peak at the Butterfly Thank you cards I have made for the Heart Cards Appeal.
