Keeping Close the One You Love!

Hi Everyone, well its that time of the month again for another Altered Art Challenge over at Altered Pages and this month the theme is Red Heart - Golden Festival in honor of both Valentines Day and Chinese New Year.  We were asked and are asking you to join in the fun by creating something incorporating the colors Red and Gold and perhaps something specific for Valentines Day or the Chinese New Year.

I have had some wooden spools from Altered Pages sitting in my stash for a few months now and was wanting to use them so I came up with an idea of a Love Inspired Photo/Card Holder.

Which I thought would be perfect for keeping your loves ones close (well at least the thought of them).

This is a photo of my hubby and Marvin the Martian taken at a trip to Movie World on the Gold Coast almost twenty years ago.  It always makes me smile when I see it.

Mounted behind the heart is a small clip and I have used a chipboard scroll corner to act as an easel like back to assist in holding the photo up.

Altered Pages Supplies Used:-
Wooden Spool
Glitz French Kiss Paper
Chipboard Scroll Corner

I forgot to take a shot from another angle, but other than my cupid, I have some red tissue paper and gold glittered hearts.  My spool is covered by a piece of French Kiss Paper from Glitz and I have achieved the gold effect by simply buffing some Metallic Gold Gelato from Faber Castell across the spool and my other elements.  This has given it a wonderful aged effect.  A touch of Red Kindy Glitz was also added.

Challenges I am entering this into are:-

Anything But a Card - #12 Share the Love
UK Pan Pastels - #6 Love and Romance
Design Memory Craft - February Take the Challenge with Mou - Recreate Nostalgia. (Vintage Look Project that can hold old photos)

Thanks for stopping by today!

WOW - what a great idea!!! And the neat thing is that even without a photo in it - it's a work of art all by itself.
