Back home and getting into the swing of things.

Hi Everyone!  We're back from our overseas holiday and I just have to say that I had a fabulous time and New Zealand is a beautiful country.  I didn't have a chance to post anything while I was away so I have a bit to share with you now

Starting with some photos.

We started out in Auckland and spent one day touring the Bay of Islands before heading to Rotourua.

On the way we stopped off for a tour of Hobbinton (Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit Movie Set) in Mata Mata.

In Rotourua we had a full Maori Culture Experience at Te Puia.  Which included the men being shown how to do the Haka, seeing a kiwi and exploring some of the thermal springs, mud pools and geysers.

We then had a lovely few days in Napier which is a beautiful seaside town known for its Art Deco Architecture and wine country.  Before heading to the most southern point of the North Island and the small fishing village of Ngawi.  We had four days staying in this very isolated, rugged yet beautiful part of the world.  We climbed to the the Palliser Bay Lighthouse, visited with fur seals at the seal colony and hiked into the pinnacles which is also a location where filming for the Lord of the Rings took place.

Mountains, rolling green hills and lots of sheep such as the photo below was typical of most areas we drove through.

From Ngawi we drove North West to a small beachside town of Waikanae which is where we stayed at a friends holiday home (just 45 min drive north of Wellington) and was the location of the AFA Australian NZ Art Meet.

Our get together catching up with old friends and making new ones was terrific, we crafted, laughed, drank and ate till our hearts content and the hubby's had a good time too.

Here's a look at some of what we got up to.

My drawing of a Tui (NZ Bird) ATC Size

One of my Birch Tree Paintings ATC Size

We learned how to draw birds from photos, paint birch trees with ink, coptic book binding, and how to make a goddess doll, to name a few.  We even had a full day of classes at the local scrapbook shop where we were shown how to make a button bracelet, an origami box and a wonderful chipboard quote book.

I am still a little tired, and need to find time to get around and visit you all to see what wonderful creations I have missed while being away.
