Little Bluebird of Happiness

Hi Everyone!  Thanks for joining me here today.  I have been trying to get into the practice of creating, doodling, drawing, painting each day.  I haven't quiet managed everyday but almost.......yesterday I took my mum and dad into the doctor in Lismore so sat in the car with one of my art journals, while I waited with my Inktense Pencils and just doodled.  Upon returning home I took one of my doodle ideas further and turned it into a mixed media painting.  I started by adding some torn paper to the background.

Using a under layer of Watercolor Pencils I drew my design followed by a top layer using my new Art Deco Fluid Acrylics and a water brush.  I then outlined everything with my Black Posca Paint Pen, and a White Posca Paint Pen added some highlights.  To finish I added a little Turquoise and Lemon Dylusions Spray to a few spots and blotted with a paper Towel.

Once finished I scanned it into my PC and added some text (Lyrics from the song 'Blue Bird of Happiness) digitally along with a frame.  For me my Art and being able to create something most days is my Blue Bird.

Supplies List:

  • Prima Bloom Girl Water Colour Paper
  • Stamping Up Watercolor Pencils
  • Scrapbook Paper
  • DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics - Cobalt Teal Hue, Titan Buff, Pymole Red, Viridian Green Hue.
  • Dylusions Spray Inks:  Lemon Zest, Vibrant Turquoise.
I think my Bluebird will be singing a bit over the next 3 - 5 days as we are expecting very heavy rain falls with flooding in some areas, as a Cyclone and another Low wreak havoc on the East Coast of Queensland and Northern NSW.  Needless to say I will be happily creating in my crafty haven as we have decided to cancel our other plans for the weekend.
