Orange and Yellow means one word for me - Challenge!

Well as you already know over at the scraplounge, this months Technique Challenge was to use paint as an embellishment.

I have shown a few cards using paint - particulalry the Acrylic Smash Technique.  Today I want to show you a scrap layout incorporating paint.

My idea for this was to use paint to create my own background piece of cardstock, as you see some many pieces now day which are just a base colour with highlights in smudgy/scratchy patterns.  A little while ago I was given a bottle of 7 Gypsies Colour Wash in the colour Pastel Yellow so starting with a 12 x 12 piece of white card I dropped some of this onto the page and brushed it to spread it out with a brush.  I than dry brushed over this with some of the Making Memories Mango Acyrlic Paint.  I chose to do my background in these colours to coordinate with the yellow fellows I received in our January Project Kit and also some of the lace we also were sent.  I used the lace across one part of the photo matt/frame.  The black sides of my photo matt/frame were cut from Black Magic Cardstock which had an orange toned core.  I ran this through my Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder by Stamping Up and then sanded back the design with sandpaper.  A few coordinating bits of cardstock, patterned paper, a couple of punches and some bling in the corners and there you have it.

To grunge/jazz the background up a little more I also than took a foam flower stamp and stamped this image using the Mango Acrylic Paint instead of ink.
To this I also then stamped in black a smaller foam stamp flower image.

I have had lots of fun creating these projects for the Scrap Lounge now the only problem is I need to tidy up my craft room........in the next few days I will hopefully have my Mini Album finished of my No. 1 Fur Baby Jester who is a Purebred British Shorthair Cat.  He turns 13 later this month, so I thought it was about time I collated some of my photos and memories of him in an album.

Off to make a start on that craft room.
